Creating Your Future; The Man Behind the Movies

An interview with Amar Adatia

We all love to get lost in a good movie, and Amar Adatia was no different, but he decided watching movies wasn’t enough, he wanted to create them, produce them and act in them too! He has worked with talent such as Luke Goss, Dean Cain, Kimberly Wyatt, and many more. With his latest movie, Override, creeping closer to release, we thought we should sit down with him and talk about his journey to where he has got to today.

Amar on getting into acting

I was always a confident child and loved to put on shows in front of my family. I also did some plays in school. Then, at 14 I went to an open casting for a huge Bollywood feature film which my mum saw in a local paper. Long story cut short I got the role out of 1000’s of auditionees and I guess my journey started from there. I got the acting bug and it’s been there ever since.

Amar on acting to producing

Acting has always been my passion and as years went on as an actor, I realised I wasn’t getting many opportunities to play different roles. I was getting your corner shop worker or terrorist role (literally I was cast for around four of those haha) and around 11 years ago I decided to take matters into my own hands and produce my own film.

I knew it would be a hard journey, but I knew I had to create my own destiny and make it happen for myself. I created one film and 11 years later I’ve just completed my 9th feature film which is being released on September 6th.

Amar on his proudest moment

Genuinely, for me, it has to be the look on my parents face whilst I’m doing my speeches at previous premieres and knowing I’m doing them proud and just to see the smiles on their faces is good enough for me. Proud is an understatement.

Amar on his next release

My latest baby is called Override. A sci-fi thriller with a hint of Stepford housewives meeting black mirror meeting Groundhog Day. ( Starring Luke Goss https://www.instagram.com/thelukegoss/?hl=en , Jess Impiazzi https://www.instagram.com/jess_impiazzi/ Dean Cain https://www.instagram.com/deuces1966/?hl=en and Kimberley Wyatt https://www.instagram.com/kimberlywyatt/?hl=en ) Very proud of this one as we shot it in Los Angeles and London and have some amazing talent attached. Definitely one of my best ones yet.

Amar’s advice

Ignore the haters and follow your passion. This industry needs thick skin and self-belief.

If you have the passion, work at it with your heart and eventually it always pays off.

Amar on good influence

Many people who know me know that I’m a very positive person in everyday life and it takes a lot to keep me down.

Good influence for me is positive thoughts and each day I will start my day with five things I am thankful for the previous day and start my day with gratitude and positive thoughts. I’m a huge believer in manifesting what you want and what you need. Each day I will wake up and think great and positive thoughts.

Amazing advice there from Amar, make sure you check out his new film Override released on September 6th on DVD and streaming platforms.
